may i ask, what internet server company thingy dooveemalakee this site runs on?
not the title, the specs, like.. the 'hard..ware' or whatever, because the other forum that i'm more than obessed with (commodore cruise club) is supposedly a big flash fast wow server, but it runs atleast 4 times slower than this one!

also, is this forum phpbb?

what else can you tell me?
anyone? lol

thanks

Vbulletin.. that makes it run a lot faster than phpbb in and of itself...

I don't know the rest.
Pretty sure it's "Skynet" :)

This is Pentium 4 3.06GHz hyperthreading with 1GB RAM (should need 2 but it's not possible with this box). But what matters more is how it is configured - This box has no control panel (those kill speed), only Red Hat Enterprise. I have compiled PHP, Apache and MySQL etc. from source and all those are latest versions. MySQL query cache is in good use and PHP is accelerated with Zend Optimizer. I constantly monitor it and tweak it for better, it is not perfect yet (some Apache 2 problems now and then). Server is located in USA and is hosted by ev1servers.net, in Houston/Texas (on this property: http://eleven2.com/marketing/dc2.jpg)

It's pretty impressive that you can hold 700 to 800 users online at a time with a single box and maintain this speed, you've obviously done a good job tweaking your box. Question is, as you grow, how long before you have to add another box?

I am a religious fan of vb myself and run roughly 150 online at a time with around 13500 members on my main site. My box is a 2.4 GHz with 1 GB ram, with those specs I figure I can get to maybe 400 to 500 before adding another server or moving to a new box. Anyway, great job you do here this is a very clean and fast board.
