My first image post. I guess the So. Cal. smog really helped with the orange coloring tonight! Shot with the nifty-fifty.

Nice. Do you have any shots with just the people on the bikes? I reckon they would make a very interesting subject in their own right.

No shots of the folks on the bikes. I agree, that would have been nice. There were very few bike riders and those did a quick turn around and were gone. This was taken around 7:30 PM, great weather. My daughter (8 years old) wanted to go to the Queen Mary that day so we did the tour and decided to grab some dinner and head down to the beach. We did a lot of walking around and she scooped up several shells that caught her eye. I grabbed a few shots as the opportunity arose. Just one of those all around nice days and this photo was one of my favs.

Fair enough :) btw. did you use a flash to expose the front of the building, or did you edit in ps?

No flash. Made use of the Shadow/Highlight feature in PSCS but I was very pleased with the amount of detail captured in the shadows, considering the backlighting.
