I think I'm a poor example of a photoblogger. Tme has not been on my side recently so my posts are somewhat nonexistent lately.
I would like to do 3-4 times a week at least but I haven't hit that number in a month or so.

I dont think the whole daily posting trend should be a requirement of photoblogging, when i relaunch, when i have a photo or a set i want to share, im posting them when i want to.
Im amazed to only one reply here though, i figured we would have some clest bloggers. I love it...so much fun

Pardon my ignorance, but what constitutes a photoblogger?

I'd love to set up a photoblog, but can't find the time to get the initial setup going.
My favourite is http://www.chromasia.com/ ... If I could get my site to function like that, I'd be happy. His photos are of a very high standard.

i manage http://www.pixelpost.org which is a free php/mysql based photoblog application. It's pretty easy to install, we're relasing a updated version on sunday.
All you need his hosting with php and mysql and a domain...its pretty much a 1,2,3 install process. We try to make it as SIMPLE as possible. The forum has great support, and if you need any help setting it up, just let me know...

any photobloggers in the forum?
I've never actually thought about setting up blog, but I like the idea behind photo-a-day, which in someplaces are considered to be different breed than photoblogs.
Photo-a-day would be too demanding for me, since my day job is in environment, which requires non-disclosure agreement and big part of my freetime goes in hobbies, where camera wouldn't be useful (in taichi to be more precise).
However, photo-a-week seems like good compromise, because it gives you clear rules for taking at least one shot a week and if I have multiple, it forces me to make choice between candidates. Except for holidays, these tend to be taken on saturdays and sundays, because in wintertime its already dark, when you leave office in the evening.

Wow... My site is simply tons of photos and a blog that I try to keep up with but often can't find the time for the words so it gets neglected. I never considered a photo blog before. Pics I can take and put up all of them time.. I do it anyway lol. I love this idea...and absolutely plan to try and start one up. Thanks for the info on Pixelpost !

I just finished redoing my entire website, you can call it a photoblog.
www.mettler14.com (http://mettler14.com)
Personally, I think the photoblog software (although really good at what it does) is usually really boring, as far as web design is concerned. I decided to turn a blog software into a photo blog software by coding my own theme. That way I could have both aspects that I like, a nicely coded website (style wise) and a way to display my photos.
BTW pixelpost is very nice.

i manage http://www.pixelpost.org
I thought I recognized you. I was using that for a while (I'm even registered on the forum) but changed. I wanted to be able to do posts that were just text based as well as photo posts so I had to work out something else. But, I did tell a bunch of other people that were interesed in photoblogging to use pixelpost.
Pixelpost is a great tool.

you can customize the skins on pixelpost, its still limited to the functionality of the photoblog application behind it, but gives you a lot of room to play...
Blue-lens...yeah, good reason to change, I doubt pixelpost will ever offer text based format. But thats for puttin in the good word, we appreciate it
Pixelpost 1.5 is going to rock, its panning out so so nice right now. Its even going to have a portfolio add-on, where you can select photos from your blog to make up a portfolio page, all generated automatically. Even though I would never use a blog as my personal website, many of the jobs i have recieved have been through my photoblog, a lot of times people like to see the everyday stuff more than the portfolio to get a feel for my average shooting skills i guess...its always worked so thats a plus, but I think it will be a cool tool.
I just hope I can find some time this weekend to get my photoblog back up and running. Im so passed my deadline...*sigh* need more hours in the day. Id love to start posting again!

Yea, I am tempted to install this newest version of pixelpost just to play with it. :)
I would have tried customizing pixelpost, but I was halfway done coding my template when I found it (pixelpost).
Open Source software/projects are awesome because there is so much support for it.

any photobloggers in the forum?
Will! I do believe I have just transformed into a photoblogger.
I downloaded pixelpost yesterday and I've just had a chance to play with it. I have to say you've developed a nice bit of software.
I used to have a blog on my site a year or so ago, but it lapsed. However, I've just set up another one using the basic pixelpost template. I've not customised it as yet, but I'll probably twiddle with the stylesheet and layout over the next couple of weeks.
I'm going to pick my favourite image from some of the events I shoot and add my waffle about how the image came about, perhaps with a few technical details here and there. If nothing else, it'll let me get a few photographic things off of my chest *lol*
Anyways, the embryonic blog is here: www.tgsphoto.co.uk/blog

Gavin ... that works really nicely and very clean 'less is more' approach. Photo's top notch too, of course!
I have 3-4 blogs on my server I can use, text based, and I've tried them all over the last 6 months but didn't fancy any of them. Also tried a couple of image library's and found they sucked, or I couldn't be bothered with all the complexity and trying to find an interface that didn't make me retch ;)
This looks so simple and would suit me so much more, so blinking8s nice work fella and I'll post a link in my Sig if I get it sorted.
Oh yes ... is it worth waiting for 1.5 or will update be easy and quick?

gmen, watch special characters in your titles, such as & and " and stuff of the likes, it breakes your rss feed on the blog and might cause issues for some viewers. We have not resolved that issue yet, it sucks but i swear its mind boggling as hell
im not the sole creator, its a group of us that work on it...but more or less i am the "manager" i guess you migh say...hehe.
I dig the photoblog though! def sign up for the http://www.photoblogs.org community and get it seen by some other photobloggers!
condyk, upgrades are pretty cake, step by step instuctions...and you always back up the files and database before you upgrade, so if something does go wrong, you can just restore the old stuff. But id say 95% of people upgrade without a hitch.
We even have a hosting deal with eleven2.com which is posted in the forum, and their support can help you with the server/install process now, as well as a hosting discount on each of your bills for life if you are running pixelpost (they turn it off it you're not)...pretty neat, busted my ass to get that one setup! hehe
i finished my new template a few weeks back and just havent had time to rework the database, made some custom changes and stuff, and the xhtml template was complex as **** for me to get working right but i really dig the theme behind it since i am going to photojournalism school in the fall now. http://blog.blinking8s.com/v2/index.php is the link, its just dummy content for now...

I'm on board! Pixelpost looks like a solid, simple piece of scripting, which is good, since it means it will be easier for me to mod. :)
My text blog never went anywhere (spent more time on the coding than on the content), but maybe I can do better with a photoblog.

pretty nice! I had to hunt a little for the nav for some reason, it just didnt click in my head at first...i highly suggest making the actual image clickable and link to the previous photo posted, its such a common photoblog feature that its almost standard usability in my option.
and as a reminder, the pixelpost community and users are always hoping for new templates and stuff, lots of info and discussions in the forum...not to sit here and "promote" myself or the crew behind the application...but we are shorthanded and so pressed with time with support and application updates alone, that templates and addons get left on the backburner a lot. Users LOVE to see new templates, it bumps your traffic cause most people stick a "template by soandso" link on the template and it just improves everything all around

blinking8s, thanks for the heads up re. Pixelpost, which installed very easily on my server ... only problem I had was creating a database and adding user/pass to it before uploading Pixelpost itself. Meant I couldn't access the set up as user/pass wouldn't allow access to database!!! But soon figured it out. Looks nice and clean on the default template so will probably leave it.
It does need some more features to make it even more friendly, nothing too fancy, but I will play first some more and then post in the user forum rather than here.
Photo's are the only small/cropped ones I have so a bit of a mixture but tests Ok with categories added and thumbs and speed is fine in all respects. I need to decide my default image size and get some decent images up there.
Nice one ...

yes, i agree about it being a little funky on the friendly side, once you realize the way the backend is setup its pretty easy. You can change your crop engine for custom cropping tools, set the size for auto crops, or use the ration of the photo in the crop.
We actually had a few complaints come in about the default template with IE issues...looking into it now, but i swear it tested clean and the code is pretty solid.
Thanks for the input though, http://www.pixelpost.org/forum/ is a great place to get more info, post ideas for future version, and get new templates and addons.

Just off to join the photoblog.org community... and to see if they like speedway and cricket... I won't hold my breath *lol*

Here's my site:
www.dailysnapshots.com
This site's been up for almost a year now. Been slowing down a bit with the photos due to time constraints and some problems related to my health. The biggest issue however has more to do with how much more critical I am with my shots since I'd replaced my Rebel with the 20D this past March!
