I have been playing with what I've learned in Photoshop today.

I wanted a simple logo (my initials) that could be used as a watermark as well as on letterheads etc...

This is the postcard that I would like to print out and leave stacks around town (I live in a ski resort):

As for the logo, I would like to incorporate it into images subtly like this:

Any critique would be gladly received. Cheers all.

Sublte advertising usually doesn't work. Don't leave it to chance whether or not someone will see your business name.

I like the logo.

Your postcard needs work IMO. Lose the Photoshop embossing, drop shadows etc....I can hardly see it. You need to add your contact info. Is this your website? Is it a '.com', 'org' etc?

I totally agree, the logo 'dm' is good. The typography for "Damian Mcarthur Photography" is very poor. It needs to be subtly combined with your 'initial' logo, don't forget it doesn't need to be in 72pt type to be seen :). Use a typeface that compliments the one you have already used, maybe it has a light weight? Any glows, drop shadows embossing will only detract from your pretty sweet photos. I would recommend using it just 'white out' or 'black out' on the photos instead.

Hope this helps

Cheers for the replies everyone!

As you can imagine, I'm crap with this sort of thing. I've disdained photoshop for ages as a 'manipulator's tool' and now I've finally decided to try it, I'm going overboard. :(

What if I was to lose the bottom right pic and just have a square black background with white lettering?

Yeah, I didn't mean it as a watermark, but more of a water 'signature' if you like.

Any photos that need actual watermarking would look more like the bottom right photo on the card...

Great logo and keep it simple, listen to Cupra...I would get rid of the Damienmc..phy, leave the logo, make it smaler and full color. Give it more impact and that's it....you have lovely shots by the way(not only these) don't kill them with watermarks etc...
:)
