This is the only picture I have of my father. I have photoshop but am not good with it. Are there any photoshop pros out there that would help me repair this picture? I know it will never be perfect, but better would be great. It is a scanned Polaroid.

You might want to post a link where you have a full sized 300 or 400 dpi scanned file.

Do you have the physical, original polaroid picture?

I'm not familiar with that HP unit but most scanners these days should be able to scan photos at 300dpi. When you open the software you can usually select a preset option for high-quality print, or you can go into the advanced option and select the resolution to be 300dpi (look for 'resolution' and 'dpi' in the options). Some scanners also have some restoration features. I'm not sure how well those work but check out your manual and if yours does, try it out and see if it's any good.

What rahn said. I haven't really scanned an image in to rededit so I am not sure what the ideal dpi should be nor any other settings that might be recommened.

Hopefully someone who knows will chime in.

As far as hosting it, you can get a free flickr account or photobucket, whatever will let you upload and allow people to access the largest file size (I think the basic flickr does that, I am not sure as I have a paid flickr account) that way people can download the "original" file to edit.

maybe the shop where you bought the scanner can help you change your settings. then you can post it, and we can all take a shot at it for you.
