So I started a photo cooperative in Tulsa and would be interested in some constructive criticism about what I'm doing. I started a website and posted some information about the project. I would like some ideas on how to make this work and some opinions on my pricing.

Please don't just give negative responses without posting solutions or ideas to what you think is wrong.

Here is the website, I would appreciate any comments that would help make it a better place.

Thanks,

Richard

I can't comment on price because I don't really know what the market is like for something like this.
However, I found your site very easy to navigate. I think your pricing page needs some work. It seemed very busy. I know "packages" are what photographers are supposed to offer, but it seems like there is a lot going on.

I like the idea though. I'm somewhat local and this has some potential for this area I think. I might have to send some business your way.

Thanks for the reply. I want to offer reasonable prices for photographers and still be able to pay the bills. Everything is kinda of a work in progress and we'll have to see how things develop.

Richard, glad I found your post, living in Oklahoma City, wished you were closer so I could visit your studio. I'm really new to photography so your service would be awesome for me, if it were here in OKC.

On that note, your prices seem reasonable, especially for here in Oklahoma which I would consider a mid tier leveled place to place your pricing, we don't get a lot of same kinds of clients as NYC etc...some of the bigger wallets etc...so I think there you've done well.

The studio looks awesome too. I'm going to try to keep up with your business and see how it goes.

Good Luck!

PS. Cubs fan or White Sox? Please say North Side...

Cubs Fan, lol.

There is a place in OKC I can't remember the name of it off the top of my head though. I would be happy to give you a tour if your ever in Tulsa.

Thanks for the replies.

Wow that looks like an amazing set up, whatever the price it would be well worth shooting in there! I need to move to the south. I'd love to shoot in there for those rates. In fact it's probably cheaper for me to travel to Tulsa, rent that studio, live there for a week and then come back then it would be to rent out 1/4 of that space, up here, sans utilities, sans equipment.

Yeah Oklahoma is one if not the lowest cost of living places in the USA.

It looks like an awesome shooting space.
I would have a few questions.
How many photogs have access to the studio at once?
What size of an area do you get to work in?
Is there any area setup for makeup, viewing?
Very cool...

We figure up to 3 at a time would be comfortable, however it can be rented out for exclusivity.

There is no sectioned off area for shooting, since it's an old building there are cool textures everywhere and we have backgrounds set up on c-stands.

We are currently setting up a really nice make-up artist / dressing room with 4 bathrooms.

We are also setting up a client meeting area with leather couches, some privacy, and eventually a projector based presentation system for client proofing.

Very cool! I live in Edmond so you guys are not far from me.... I am a noob and would be more interested in the classes you have to offer or are offered at the studio. I'll definitely keep checking the site. Looks like I just missed a pretty neat class yesterday too. I'll hope to make the next one.

Good luck!

The first thing I see is that the site doesn't seen to be fully compatible with mobile devices. I tried looking at your site from work and it comes up "The web site you have attempted to visit is NOT currently defined in the "internet content filtering service" that verifies the site is not malicious." (which is something you have no control over) so I looked it up on my Blackberry. From my Blackberry I can only get to your homepage and don't see any links to any of the other pages people have mentioned. I'm not sure what the cause of this is or what the solution would be, but you might want to check into it (I have similar problems with my Zenfolio site).

I don't know what I think about sites that are not yet mobile compatible. If its really a good or bad thing.

The site is an iWeb site. Maybe it's apple's way of giving blackberry users a hard time. LOL

I'm not sure either. Sometimes I think they should be mobile compatible, some times I don't care. I think as time goes on it will be much more important.

LOL, yea that could be it.

I'll look at it on my computer at home and see if I have any thin useful that hasn't already been covered.
