Opening for a larger name band generally means copping the worst lighting for the night - tonight Poetikool Justice (opening for The Beautiful Girls) certainly did. It's a shame too as a lot of their on-stage antics were not photographed due to lack of lighting. It didn't bother the crowd tho, they danced and partied like it was the headlining act!

Fun looking gig. Sometimes the opener is better than the headliner ... that's why they keep the good lighting turned off.

well the gov is generally pretty damn fine with lighting, except as dwight pointed out often if the opener is known to be better than the headliner they cop poor lighting. the problem with this lighting tonight is that it was consistent. it was poor and it didn't change the entire set. :(

LOL ... yeah, I just had that with Merle Haggard! Had a couple of brothers singing that kinda' Bluegrass Country as a warm up ... lighting wasn't very good so I was waiting for Merle ... but his lighting was considerably poorer than when I shot him five years ago, sigh, and certainly no better than the opener. And it's not as though they couldn't light him perfectly ... biggest problem was that they didn't use follow spots.

bummer dwight :( a single follow spot would help in so many ways!!!

Yup ... and they have four of them permanently mounted on high platform at the back of the room ... I remember when they didn't! LOL.
