Hello!

I am writing in the hope that somebody may be able to shed some light oon an installation problem I am having.

I have a Canon PowerShot A40 and I have installed the software that goes with it.

I then tried to import photos from the camera (File | Import Images | From Canon Camera. This opens up the 'Communications Settings' box, but in the 'Detected Camera Models' it is defaulted to 'NONE' and there are no camera model options for me to select. The port type is set to USB.

The camera was turned on - cables are were they should be, batteries are OK, film is fine, etc - and I am unsure as to why the software doesn't seem abale to communicate with the camera.

If somebody could suggest what the problem mught be, I would be grateful.

Best wishes

Hatter

ima getting the exact problem. instead i get a usb malfunction. when it pops up to choose the program to use. i get default camera and no programs to choose from. also it shows not ready or in use when i press get picture using scanner and camera.

i've tested if it was sp1 and itz not. i don't think itz usb.

what i am suspecting is when u first time plug in a device, it auto installs but it sometimes ask for extra drivers not found so u put in cd. but what i did was cancel or ignore it. so it didn't install correctly. and that thing only pops up once. if anyone know how please put some comment please
