So, I had a couple ask for something....as best I could tell this is what they wanted. How does it look? (nevermind the uses, I don't entirely get it :p )

It looks terrible! It's plain white and it says "Content Protected by Owner"

Should be fixed now. I see a few spots that I missed painting black. I imagine the big space in the upper left(they asked for it) is for them to type something onto the image.

I quite like the idea in general and I think it will service a good purpose for the client however ...

I couldn't express it adequately in words. So I've destroyed it with annotations.
I don't like the blending (?) towards the bottom. It just looks cheesy.

I guess I could try polygon'ing around it and making it straight....I couldn't think of anything else to get the job done.

I agree, the vignetting at the bottom is a bit distracting. I would also try some font variation between the names and the date.

The feathering needs a little more attention as there is a rather abrupt dropoff in the level of black from near the flowers to around it.
For the text, when using smallcaps with titlecase, you might want to reduce the point size for the "&" and drop it to the size of the smallcaps. For the date, you could go in either of two directions: keep the same font, but reduce the size to about half, or switch to a different font (a classy serif italic perhaps), again in smaller font size.

I just lasso'd around the bottom of her dress and feathered it at about 50 pixels. I don't know of a better way to really get it less distracting. The falloff has to happen somewhere. Ideas?
Thanks for the font ideas. I agree about shrinking the and sign down and the date.....The font stays as it was requested.

Here's a quick and dirty edit since I don't have access to the layers...
http://atypeofmagic.com/POTN/lindsey-potn.jpg
What you'd need to do (I'm assuming you're working in Photoshop) is create a bottom layer and fill with the background black, then Add Layer Mask to your actual image layer.
Click on the Layer Mask (in Layers palette) and then use the gradient tool with Transparency box checked to fade from the main image to the background. You will also have to use the Erase tool (soft brush, lowered opacity) in areas between the flowers and other areas where the back dropoff is too harsh.
Also fixed the text size and added a more appropriate leading between names and date.
Hope this helps.

It does, thanks. I'm learning as I go with photoshop. Mostly worked in lightroom, but I'm finding it pisses me off more than gets me where I want to go.
First wedding too, blah!
