Hi Friends,
Question for you parents who have little kiddos....
We went to Silver Dollar City In Branson MO last week. One of my favorite parks! The kiddos have plenty to do and the wife and I love the shops. My daughter and I ride the roller coasters.
Obviously, I want to make sure and capture the great moments but the 20D is a pain to carry around. Especially when wet rides are involved. What do you all do?
I'm thinking about leaving the 20D home and taking a smaller camera (fits in the pocket) next time we go.
Suggestions wanted :D

It's a bummer to have to leave the good gear at home on these occassions. I have small a sony cybershot that I take with me on events like that. Lived in St. Louis all my life and have not been to Branson yet...

The classic "Disneyworld" conundrum. There are times when you have to decide whether you want to photograph your vacation or just enjoy it.
I was at Silver Dollar City a few years ago. Fun place! They put on a great variety show in the big ampitheatre at the end of the day. If you're not too paranoid, maybe take your 20D and the 70-200 and lock it in a locker until it's time to go to the big show. Use the pocket camera for the rides & stuff.

Yeah a compact would be better situated to that situation. Good luck!

A Canon Powershot could do the job nicely. The Photographer is the one who takes the pictures not the Camera. So which ever camera you bring you will get about the same results except, with a compact you don't have too much zoom option.

Many say that Branson is cheesy but I don't think so. At least for my family. A lot to do for the kids and many fun things for adults as well. The food isn't too good though. Silver Dollar City is a bit overpriced but if you use their city hopper ticket deals and refill mugs it's tolerable.

I didn't know there was a coined term for this:) Exactly. I find my self having to choose if I want to photograph or break loose.
Thanks Rick and cjm, other than the zoom and also lighting (inside attractions), a compact should do just fine. I think I'll save up and go for a compact next time!

I've been there several times with my little knotheads and we always enjoy it. I think I would like to have my 20D at least one day while there, SDC has lots of interesting things to photograph.
