I am looking at different options for a wide angle converter for my G11.
Looking at a 0.6- 0.8 range, no wider.
Any thoughts?

You can use the wide converters for the G9/G7 on the G11. I use the Canon 0.75x lens on my G9. The two Raynox lenses are also good, and have front thread mounts to hold filters, which the Canon brand lacks.

There seem to be so many lenses and I am really confused. I am very particular about quality, the idea of a converter alone gives me the creeps so I am hoping for some image samples and experienced user reviews.....

The Canon converters are high quality, as are the Raynox. Another photog posting on here has recently purchased the Canon lens for his G11, and has posted several shots on various threads. Here's a link to one of them. His name is John Baker.

THanks for that lensmate.com link. I need some help and need to read up on lenses as I want to be able to shoot wider. Looks like this can be done at a reasonable price. If I understand correctly, I need to get a base piece and then the extra lens attachment...all for about 50.00....do I have this right?

If all you plan to do is attach a wide converter lens, then the less expensive Canon adapter tube will do the job.

If you plan on eventually buying filters, and don't want to use the full zoom from wide to tele without hitting the filter at full tele, then you would do better getting the Lensmate tubes, or find less expensive tubes. There is another person posting in the G11 threads here, John Baker, that bought some inexpensive Chinese brand tubes that work fine for him. See this thread.
