getting this close to a 2 yr old with a hose

Please give me your opinions on this next photo. I really like it, I am not sure why but sometimes I wonder if I am not objective because the subject is my child. Be honest, does this pic do anything for you? Ok I have to say, the sharpness of his eyes are lost in the upload.

First of all I love the first one, would not change a thing awesome capture :)

I think the swing in the second one is too distracting and is casting an ugly shadow on his face... it would have been better if it were a bar or rings (something less distracting)

great color and sharpness in both though (I wish I could get my image quality that good)

I like both shots, the first being my favourite! I know what you mean about trying to be subjective with your own child!! (see my many Julia photos!! :) ) I am not sure which camera or lens you are using but I might have tried for a faster aperature (F2) to try and isolate your son a little more from the background.......but that's nit-picking your nice photos of your handsome kid!

Ha.......you let your camera near your 2 year old.......with a garden hose - turned on?
Are you CRAZY????? ;) You dislike your camera or somethin??
My 2 y.o. would have drenched me......and laughed her head off!
You are one dedicated photographer ;)

I like the shot at the swings....except for the shadow on his head.....that's about the extent of my criticism. But when you're shooting a kid on swings, it's not like you can plan things - it all happens really fast......so well done!

Unfortunately, I am still using a P&S. I was at F2.8 but.........what can I say. LOL. Waiting patiently for an SLR. I am gonna play a bit in PS and see what I can do.
Thanks for the great feedback.

I was pretty nervous when I took pictures of my grandson with my 20D last week while he held the hose. Fortunately he's only 2 and couldn't figure out how to turn it on.

Hey Guitarman,

I just have this feeling that I don't have your sort of luck!
Nope, if camera's out, hose is away....if hose is out, camera is away - or I'm far away with a long lens.

I think that this was just a one time chance I took.
