I live in Spain and would like to know if Im best getting my new 20D in Gibraltar for around £900 with the 18-55 lens or pick one up in Cancun Mexico, when Im over there in September with a Mack international warrenty

I prefer to buy cameras locally, for the support the vendor offers, but with an international warranty it's not so important. Weight up local support vs cost and I suspect you'll be able to answer your own question. Welcome to POTN :)

Last time I checked Canon don't offer a true International warranty on bodies. But they do on lenses. That may influence what you do. Certainly worth checking out before you buy. Call (or better email) you local Canon service centre and ask if they'd do a FOC repair under warranty with proff of purchase from [where you intend to buy it]. If not, you're into sending back to the country where you bought it you want free service attention to it during warranty. That would be a lot of hassle.
