Aleesha & Todd's Hockey Game Engagement

Todd wanted a "Flames" themed wedding. Aleesha said, NO CHANCE! I suggested a session at the Calgary Saddledome in jersey's thinking he could have a flames themed guest book and both are happy! I was NOT expecting to shoot IN the 'Dome DURING a game!! The lighting was uuuuber difficult to deal with and the crowds of people! uug it was "fan appreciation night!" I tell ya, i didn't appreciate that at all... But ooooh what fun!

hehe what fun! I will admit, a lot (and I mean A LOT) of rules were broken during this session. Some of mine, some of theirs, some of the 'Dome's I am sure we didn't' break any laws... if we did, i am sure someone will point them out to me... eventually.

I think you did a good job in difficult circumstances. I love #2! There are a couple of WB issues but I know that's some tricky lighting to shoot in. Second to last would be better if it were less centered IMO, but overall very solid.

There are a ton of great images here. What I cool concept. I know they will both LOVE it and bonus, the groom will be even more easy to work with the day of the wedding. I love how you have these moments captured in public. All the people and players in the background just add to the overall excitement. Way to go!

how did you even manage to bring in the camera into the Dome??? :))))) you sneaky.:)) lol :) I had front raw seats once, it was the best game experience eva!! :)

#2 is the best IMO. There are some WB issues, and i think #1 could be much better if it was warmed up some, but good solid set.

Thank you everyone ;) the white balanceing was hard! Not only were the lighting issues difficult, but security was breathing down my back ALL THE TIME! LOL

I really wasn't able to take any test shots, i just adjusted the white balance and exposure as I shot, tried to shoot it fast and move on before I was acosted by yet another security guard.

I didn't want my bride or groom to feel uncomfortable at all, so i made sure to move quickly get the shot so when we chatted with security we were able to just move on. I am a .jpg shooter. I guess this is one of those circumstances where shooting raw and "fix it later" could have been helpful?
I have never shot at a game before, I was warned by soem friends who are hockey fans that i would not be allowed to even bring my camera into the dome! ( Svetlana, i walked right in with it in my bag. I just didn't have it slulng over my shoulder, i made sure it was in my bag when we went in the building). I pulled out my zoom for shot #2, and security came up and stood right in front of my camera! After a chat, he let me know that all would be "ok" as long as I do not pull out a zoom or telephoto lens of any sort while the game is in play or the players on the ice at all. Other wise, I will be ok. So he then took my ticket number and informed the usher of my section to keep an eye out for me and my big lens. LOL... no problem. However... he did forget to mention that he gave me the "ok" to all the other 200 security guards in the building! So every time I put my camera to my face, a security guard stepped right in front of me! we had a chat, then moved on.... all night.

All we wanted was BEER LOL... it was great fun ;) and I did learn a lot about my couple and these types of shooting situations..
