Looks like you caught some nice moments :) Love 5 and 8.
6 seems a tad underexposed, and I am not sure how I feel about the crop in 3. I know what you are going for, but I think I would have cropped a little lower.... It seems a tad awkward at his eyes.
Hey, was this at Admiral Kidd in San Diego? That ceremony shot looks so familiar.

nice work ;)
Not a fan of 7.
I think a little more contrast in 2 would be nice.
8. is brilliant :)
and great catch on 5!

These are really quite nice! Number 1 had me laughing as it looked like another pair of legs over the bride's, but it took me a moment to realise they were beside... And 7 looks like a strange ritual - is that her tongue, or a lolly? Even so, these two stood out for me because of exactly that - they were different!!!
Thanks for posting,
ken

Jules, thank you. Yes, this was at Admiral Kidd, it was a great location once the sun got a little lower.
I dont know why i threw in #7, i think i was just looking for another color picture. It is her tongue and it was as they were feeding each other cake. How about these instead of #2 and #7
I was trying to get the depth in here, and i know they are being blocked a little, but what do you think?

I think this one could use some more contrast, but does it work?

Bryan,
I am shooting there for the first time next month. Any pointers for me? :D

I really like number 4. Some of these need work, as mentioned, but I really like this location. I think the last one you posted in post #6 needs to be cooled down a bit on the WB, but I like the idea.

maybe level number 4? Number 6 looks under exposed...
Great job on 5. Shooting people exposed directly to the sun is a pain. Great job there. Looks like maybe some slight cloud cover helped you out?
I wish number 8 had a little more contrast in it and was cropped so that the person head didn't block the string of lights. something like this. just my opinion though.

Thanks Scott, Ill see what I can do with that crop. I like how you did that. i was a little worried about adding contrast because i didnt want to block out the couple.
#6 is under exposed, and ill try to fix that. Im thinking about going into photoshop and adding grain, that way it will look planned :) All of these were done in ACR.
I also want to add contrast in #1. How should i recrop #3? I saw the idea once on a bride and loved it, but i was just having a hard time executing it.
Ill mess with the WB too on the last one i posted, it is too orange still.
As for cloud cover, there wasnt really any. What helped me was it got later in the day. The sun going lower was a nice plus.
Julie:
A few tips. Hopefully it is a later ceremony. If you can try to shoot the formals later rather than earlier. The bride wanted us to shoot as many as possible early, so we shot in a gazebo off to the side, but had a completely blown-out background which is the beautiful SD skyline.
Are you going to be on the top floor or bottom for the reception? The top is beautiful for the reception, much better layout than the bottom.
There is a balcony up top that is good for the wide ceremony shots.
The dressing room is small and dark if they use it, with a window that looks into the next building. Bringing a few flash units could make it much better, but there are lots of mirrors.
Feel free to contact me personally if you are looking for a second shooter :)

I love 1, 5 and 8. Not crazy about the shot where they are feeding each other cake (I guess); it looks to me like he is just pinching her tongue. Great job, though!

How about these? I tried to take your suggestions.
I cropped this a little lower, hopefully this works?

I brought up the skin tones here, hopefully improved it.

Cropped this and boosted some contrast.

A little different processing here, it was hard to mix the ambient and their color in post.

Brought it up, added grain, and smoothed it out a little.

Did this work?

second edits on the black and whites much better! I still prefer the darks darker but it becomes a matter of personal taste at that point. Second edit on the motion blur shot... i dunno. now it looks to cool to me. I thought the first was fine the way it was. (I'm on a crappy monitor though, so i really can't be too much a judge)

Thanks Scott, the second one does look too cool to me too. Just trying to bring the orange down a bit, but I think I will leave that like it was.
