that's him drinking water
(yesterday)
he looked very funny dipping down
he was a short distance away from me
someone had left crumbs on the steps
but he decided to take flight
there was nobody else around at the time

Cute shot of him waddling down the walkway. The taking flight shot is great. He looks a lot skinnier in the second one. For some reason I also noticed the light shadow in both shots--did you lighten these shadows by chance? Seems like they'd be darker under natural conditions. I like them!

Cute shots.
But I think You should use the walking duck as the avatar. I think the one of him drinking loose too much in the downsize.

Cute Marie, real Cute, however by the looks of the stride on him waddling along I think it was something a little stronger than water that he was drinking.    the 'duck sobriety test'

I didn't really take the pictures well
(or finish them off well either)http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif
the shadows were like that
I was just passing by and intended shooting the river and boathouse for a second as the scenery behind is nice...
but forgot when I saw the skinny duckhttp://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif
the river runs right in the town where I was doing business
all the pictures are slightly blurred.
the duck never saw me , unless when he was waddling along coming my direction ,
but then he diverted to take that drink

thank you Tommy,
it's too colourless to make smaller to show properly in an avatar
not well taken to start with
(not sharpy)http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif
I had been thinking of the last shot but it did not look good made smaller
I put the other one on that same evening (as an avatar) as I thought it looked very funny
something sad about it too
just left it on for a while

In this weather there are all sorts around St Stephen's Green. I lunchtimes you could walk from one side to the other without walking on the grass, stepping body to body :D :D. I have never brought the camera there. I usually just get as far as Grafton Street, by the time I get all the performers, I don't have time for the Green, but I will one day.

But I think You should use the walking duck as the avatar. I agree! It's how I think of you, Marie... flouncing down the sidewalk! :D;)
It will get sharper as it gets smaller.

also, about the shot
you are more then likely right about the avatar size would be sharper
thanks to Tommy for saying also
not sure I want it as an avatar though
I liked the way the duck was drinking in the other shot, his head hanging down like that.
I know it looks weirdy though (being in such a tight picture does not help either)
http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif
just left it on for a while
