I found it on my car after coming home from work and have never seen anything like it before. Has, 6 legs, 2 antennas, and maybe a fang or suction tube like a mosquito?

I'm not sure...I was told that insects with mouth tubes use them to draw nectar from plants and fruit. I was accidently stuck by the mouth piece of a similar bug years ago. The bugger was crawling on my neck after it fell out of a hanging plant. I hate bugs and my mother said it was on me and...whack with my hand. Left a nice hole but never got infected. Now I'm leary of hanging plants.

...now I consider myself fairly well knowledgeable here.. but this is a mystery.. to such a degree I don't even know where to start doing research to narrow it down?

I think it's an ant-mimicking assasin bug (family Reduviidae).

Insects with tubular mouth parts may drink nectar, but they may just as well drink the juices of another insect! Can't find my bug book at the moment, but it does appear to be predator like an assassin bug.

Good job rock one!
Most assasin bugs, indeed all those I'd ever heard of,.. look more like this;

It seems the wings vary drmaitcally in saize.. not sure if it's age or breed.

From the CSIRO book of Australian insects -
"No species sucking vertebrate blood is known from Australia, but several, particulary the larger ones, are reported as inflicting painfal bites in humans".
Be careful of them !!
