I went to the Azalea Festival in Muskogee, Oklahoma back in April and got some very colorful pics. I spied this Azalea floating and it captured my interest. This picture was taken with my Sony Mavica FD75 with 10x optical zoom. This was the camera I was using before I upgraded to the Canon Rebel XT. Before the Sony I was using a Yashica Elite70 zoom lens of f38-70mm with standard 35mm film. I've come along way. Wish I had my Rebel XT when I took this picture.

Here are couple more that I took that same day with the same camera. The first one is of a large rock with a hole in the middle. A plant has made it home. The second I found to be just unusual because of all the above ground tree roots at the pond edge. I'm not sure what kind of tree it is.

Nice shots with the Sony. I used an MVC-CD1000 before getting the D-Rebel.

Nice! I love when little pockets of soil become homes to plants. I remember seeing a fern growing from a stone wall in Batsto Village in the Pine Barrens which I want to go back and photograph now. The third picture is a Bald Cypress (less likely a Pond Cypress) and the protruding 'knees' are part of the root system. Since they always grow in wet areas, it is thought these knees have evolved to help them get oxygen during flooded conditions. I LOVE these trees. They are conifers, but are also deciduous...losing all their needles in the winter (after turning an attractive yellow or rust color).
