Angie and I made this video for a wedding workshop we taught for Professional Photographers of Colorado. It shows the process that was invented in the 1850's that creates a photograph on tin and glass. I was captivated a few years ago when I first saw how this was done. Its taken 2 years to get to this point. Custom 8x10 camera made and a 1912 petzval lense to keep the period look. I still have a lot to learn when it comes to the process but it is a lot of fun. I hope that you guys enjoy.

Wow. That was cool, but I think the video was a little longer than it needed to be. :)

Wow that looks fun. I've been interested in how that's done for the past couple of years now. Thanks for sharing.
Is getting setup for that relatively expensive?

It really is. I didn't even show the setup. A lot of the fun is working with the large format camera. Seeing the image on the ground glass. The image is upside down and backwards when you are seeing it.

I would say with education, chemicals, camera, lense its cost about 4k. You can shoot collodion images out of any old camera that you can modify to take a wetplate back though. I have heard of holga's modified to do this so it doesn't have to be expensive.

We don't do any collodion workshops since we definitely are not qualified, but we do have some others that we teach. I don't want to make anyone upset so shoot me an email and we can send you some info.
