Dennis Hopper the photographer, artist and collector....who's been up and down some steep mountains in his life....and has had to give up some of his finer collected works to his ex's....but Dennis has always kept a handle on life....with his photography, collecting, painting, sculpture and using his artistic talents daily....it took a lot to slow this man down....he once said he didn't think he's live till 30 and once he reached 30, making 70 wasn't even on the radar....you've had an amazing life Dennis.

The first video has some of his work from primarily 61 to 67 shot with a Nikon F that his first wife gave him as a present.

Dennis work has been shown at galleries in Europe and Russia as well as in the USA......Billboards (a favorite of Dennis') at the Tony Shafrazi Gallery in this video and Douglas Kelley interviews Tony Shafrazi at his extraordinary exhibition of Dennis' photographs and billboard paintings.

Happy to share...I find his work as an photographer and the influence of art in his everyday life...quite compelling as well, especially in conversation...just thought at this time in his life, for those who aren't aware of his passion beyond film work,a very talented artist.

I found myself remembering his role in Apocalypse Now and trying not to think of that character as I looked at his work. "I am not a deranged photographer in real life, but I played one in the movies"

I think one of the greatest scenes ever put on film was the one with Hopper opposite Christopher Walkni in "True Romance"
Go watch this again if it doesn't ring a bell, and notice the moment when he realizes his fate, and how his attitude changes to reflect this realization. (hint, "I'll take that cigarette now " )

I get teary eyed just thinking about! :)

The scene of which you speak with Dennis Hopper and Christopher Walken in True Romance is thought by many to be Dennis' best scene ever....

A warning to those who might be offended by violence and racial innuendo!

On a lighter note...one of his funnier roles in "Flashback"

and the acid scene after....
