Challenge #271 - View Through A Window
________________________________

Hello all,
The challenge this week is a "view through a window" - any window, looking outside in or inside out ....but I need to see some evidence of a window frame !!! Have fun !

Linda

A big thank you to you all for participating. It was extremely difficult to judge as they were all superb and wheedling it down to 3 was very hard indeed ....but the task has now been done!!!

3rd place Marie - "Bonus View for the ladies who lunch" - awarded for her cheekiness and it made me laugh! :-) Before I read your title I immediately thought of the "Diet Coke" advert !! Yes, Marie, I liked it alot!!!

2nd place CarloY - "Today's hills North Calif" - absolutely exquisite!

1st place afkenner - "Welcome to the Dentist" - I absolutely hate visiting the dentist and I found your image, at first, grotesque and disturbing and then, I found myself being intrigued by it and a feeling of "Serves you right for peering through the window" !!! For releasing such an array of emotions you deserve 1st place. Well done!

Maureen - loved your photograph. My youngest son spends hours standing at the window like that, watching the birds and squirrels!
Needsnow - what a beautifully composed photograph and I adore that lamp!
PaulB - Nice motor,nice photo,nicely shot.
Ivolution & Kevan - interesting "arty" shots from you both. Very clever! Great ideas!
wd-40 - Intriguing photo - what was she looking at ?
lanton - Eleanor is such a cutey and I loved her playhouse...resembles a similar one installed in my back garden!!! Good imaginative interpretation.
Jim Askew - Great picture...it would have been nice to see a Harley or two parked outside rather than a moped though!!!
Michael Wells - Mmm...lovely countryside,clear roads....what a view,what a journey!

aaaah, it's an honor for me Kevin...Linda leveled me with you, it's a compliment!
Mine was a pic from 1st night out with my new G11(january), didn't have time to scout for window moments this week so I digged one up...I am not sure about the focus, it was on the light through the window, through the water, so not really focused but I liked it.

WOW! What an honor! Thanks so much Linda! Congrats to all the winners and contributors.

Sorry for the late reply, for some reason I didn't get an email from the thread and just now checked back. I will post the next challenge in just a few minutes.

That horrifying dentist's office photo was taken from the car (you can see it reflected in the window) while sitting in traffic in downtown Philadelphia. It was night, and that horrible mouth sent an eerie glow into the street and caught my eye, good thing my trusty G10 was right at hand!

Such a pleasure to participate in this fun challenge, thanks again!

Absolutely, IVO.
I took my photo back in February when we were running around the neighborhoods of NYC's Chinatown and the blocks immediately due west. We happened on this jam-packed store and my wife and daughter walked in while I opted to stay outside and look for some photo oppts. Though I enjoyed the perspective twist in this photo, I'm still not sure I like it. I mean...it's a rather dull photo of a small lamp in a window and the red stone relection running down the middle simply cuts me the wrong way. I wish it had a bit more character is all. To make a comparison...It's sorta like the Jerry Seinfeld TV show with a plot based on virtually nothing.

Congrats to afkenner, CarloY, and Marie! As always, a lot of different interpretations, and some great photos! Kevan, I really liked your shot...the more I looked at it, the more I saw in it. Nice work! Thanks, mrshobden, for doing the hosting this week...well done!

Kevan, loved your entry and all the elements.....way cool!!

Thanks Maureen, that’s very kind of you to comment. You too did a wonderful job, capturing your son’s own captivation.

Speaking of birds and squirrels, we have a birdfeeder outside our kitchen window that sees so much action; it looks like the Grand Central Station for little critters. The hours of enjoyment it has brought us, noses pressed to the glass, is countless. We did discover that these fine-feathered friends are quite snobby about the feed they’ll consider. Years ago we tried the grocery store bargain brand and they snubbed their beaks at it. Then we went out and bought the caviar of seed, called “Lyric”, and it’s a virtual mob scene out there. Short of a bald eagle and flamingo, we’ve got every kind of eastern bird visiting us. Totally worth buying the high priced spread. I only wish we had a better back drop for taking photos. The G9 is a bit too slow with all the flittering action that goes on around the feeder.
