They look absolutely fantastic, great concept.
You have really created a very professional and tasteful effect!
Please post an overview of your workflow and where you will be getting your materials from (if you can divulge that information ;) ).

Oh wow they look fantastic!
Can I ask how you did the effect in the first one, where it sort of paints to black?
Please keep us updated Im very interested in how this turns out. How large will each page be when printed?
Also, the image of the album is not showing for me :(

Kawter,
Those page spreads are awesome. I did a photo book last year, and it turned into a real keeper. I used MyPublisher.com, but their page layouts were very limited. Who are you using to print the book? What's the cost per page?
Thanks,
Mark

Do you do the complete layout in Photoshop or do you finish off in Adobe InDesign or PageMaker? I would love to hear your workflow from pc to print, if possible. For Example; where and how much you pay to have the prints done or if you print on your own printer, what printer you use? That is a very classy, professional looking layout!

That looks very very professional Eric... I'm guessing you've put a few hours into this project already? :)
It's worth it though, that'll be one great album. You have a beautiful family!
I do hope you'll keep on posting the pages as you go, they are very inspirational!

That is awesome. I wish I could do something like that. I totally love the Old Navy picture and my favorite page of the album is the San Diego Page. I like how you put the pics on the right side together and I love the magazine cover look to the left page. Good job!

to answer learner's question
haha yea, i'm an open book!!
work-flow is 100% photoshop.. in layout i use photoshop/illus but for this PS is just simpler
prints all done at WHCC>com (white house custom color)
and the book is made and assembled (i.e. putting prints on pages) by leathercraftsmen.com

actually the most time was spen trying to make up my mind on book dimension.. getting a feel for the seamles page layout and aspect ratio... I almost went to a book that made a 4:3 when open, but instead went for the 8x8 which gives the ratio in the above screenshots (2:1)

Those are amazing, I wish I knew how to do that. Where will you have it printed up? Is there a website?
Did you do the layouts from your mind or is there a program you used? Thanks

For Christmas, my boyfriend got me a similar book to make at home - cover and everything. Still trying to figure out the printing logistics, but this is a really neat project to do. Yours are a bit more professional and a great inspiration!

If you are intertested in making books, you owe it to yourself to check out cmykbooks.com. I made my own wedding album from them in their "board book" format. It came out great. And unlike MyPublisher, you control all aspects of page layout just like you would with Leather Craftsmen.

Great job. On your third set of pages (old navy t shirt) How do you make the photo that big? I am using Asuka books and I have to trasform it to take the full two pages. Are you using photoshop for all of this? On the last one I really like the collage. I tried to do something similar but what frustrates me is putting a layer down and then another, later realizing that it wouldv'e looked better if the second was under the first etc...
