So - if you wanted to take partial/nude shots, and don't have any kind of studio setup or adequate space in your home or the model's, where would you look??

Would love to use natural light, but can't think of many places that would be legal or private enough to do so outdoors. I'm in an apartment, and her place isn't much better.

I have no backdrop, only one external flash, and dream of an empty white room with lots of natural light and no peeping toms! :P

Thanks -

I'd go get a hotel room for the day.

+1 for getting a hotel room.

Really? The only hotel rooms I've seen that would be decent for lighting/set would be really expensive. Also, I don't have paying clients who can afford those costs at this point. I'm looking to do TFCD type shoots, and the friends I want to start with don't have the money for that.

Any other ideas? How would you find outdoor locations that would have privacy?

IMO You'd be paying for the location not the client. Unless the client specifies they wan to shoot in a locale they pick, in which they'd pick up the tab, would the pay.

You can still do TF* work while paying for the studio time. You just are t monetarily compnsating the model.

There is no such thing as 'not enough room in my own apartment or the subjects'. I make apartments and low end homes work often. You just have to be creative and think outside the box a bit.

If your serious about wanting to get good shots that look professional then you may just have to bite the bullet and shell out for the room yourself. Hotel rooms of a good sizw/quality to shoot in don't need to cost more than $150/$200. That's not really a huge cost if your going to be getting a good set of photos from one model. Maximise the time you have and book a second/third or fourth model and shoot lots of diff styles and look to get your moneys worth.

well sure there would be room in my place, if I was a minimalist or didn't have a fiance and two cats, plus about 3 persons worth of stuff in a 1 bedroom apartment :P Getting it to the point where I could use it for photos would take a hell of a lot of time that I don't have.

If I was making money from the photos, a hotel room would be reasonable, but I'm not yet. For that rate, I may look around at options such as renting a studio space. I was hoping to get some new ideas of places to consider.

Thanks - I do appreciate the responses!

Look into renting studio time with a friend or a couple other photogs to split it.

I dont know where you located or if you have to do them indoors, but around here we have some huge parks. Plenty of places to disapear in the back of the woods off a nature trail or something. Or find a friend with some land you go on thats wooded to some extent

You might consider looking for a models/photography group in your area. There are a few here on meetup dot com where they arrange spaces and times for models/mua's/photographers to get together. If a group shoot doesn't work for you, it's at least an opportunity to meet other shooters that are aware of other resources. I met somebody here who rents time in his studio for $25 per hour, which I'll probably use sooner rather than later. Good Luck.

I second the park idea. And I mean like State Park. It might mean a bit of a hike, but I have a few in mind in my area that would work well.
