I thought one of the main requirements to be Miss anything was you had to be single. If that is her husband, what am I missing?

Wow. It's definitely different. Super harsh lighting, ugly background, dead grass. Doesn't work that well, imo. The boy cut off up front bothers me as much as anything. Did she like it?

Yeah man, she loved it! Actually I didn't cut off the boy in the front that was just a bad crop.... Yeah, I know it's harsh and different.. I took more standard shots as well, this was just one of the different ones...
Your right though it was bare bulb flash heads. I actually took it like this with a mindset I was going to do quite a few things in post to make it more like an art piece... I just posted it in the raw...

On my monitor most of the details in the blacks are gone, so the parents just kind of blend into the night sky. Also not really liking the bored looking face of the boy in the front. But it's still a cool shot!

Is that Benji Gil as in the Ex- Major League Baseball player?

Your 100% right. The blacks do blend in and that was by design. I also wanted the parents to add to the photo but not be the focus hence the placement. I have many others with them smiling this is just the one I picked.. I do lots of typical family portraits so it was kind of the rebel in me to do something a bit weird and unexpected. I do agree with your points.

Yep, he was wearing his World Series ring that he won with Angels!! So cool!!
He plays in Mexico right now for their pro equivalent league.

So this is an unedited photo? I would love to see a final version of it.

Here is something I'm working on but it's going to change I'm sure. Please keep in mind this was the kind of thing that they wanted. They are use to typical stuff so they wanted something outside their typical comfort zone. This is all about what they want.

I dont get it....does nothing for me. You have much better work on your site, this just missed the mark for me? But if they like it then its a win!

I'm at the point where I totally accept that sometimes I do things and it's not my best. I work so much that this does tend to happen. While these might not be the greatest they sure do love them so I guess I did come out on the winning end of things. The whole concept behind this VERY short shoot was to try something very against the rules that was kind of why I posted it. I could post the studio shots all day long with the family in the perfect triangle with Fat (I'm mean flat lighting) hahaha... For some of you who don't know what I mean by fat lighting is it's what us 4:1 ratio loving guys like to call two 45 degree spots. The only way I really get better is to try new things and think outside the box. Unfortunately for me, this shoot was so short I had to worry more about technical stuff than expressions or moments.
