Hi guys!

Im new here and just wanted to ask some questions, sorry if they have been posted before. Im looking into buying a 350D, but unsure what to carry it in.

Which backpack would be best for a 350D and a Canon EF Zoom Lens - 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 III - USM and some other bits like CF cards etc..?

Thanks alot!;)

Tim

For the gear you mention this might fit the bill.
Camera and lens will fit in the bottom compartment and spare gear, jacket etc in the top. Also not expensive. :)

Welcome too - I would make sure you look at the Trekker II, an update of the one Lomond linked - its a bit smarter..

how much stuff can you fit in those trekkers? equipment-wise, i mean. i have a 350XT, about 5 lenses, a flash unit and giotto rocket blower. of course batteries and CF cards. does it have something to strap a tripod onto the outside?

You'll need one of the bigger bags to fit all that gear.
The orion is handy for a body, one or two lenses plus some accessories.

No tripod attachment.

Its great for a day trip when you only want one bag and need to take non camera stuff too. Fits all my kit below (except P2000) in the bottom section and room for sandwiches, jacket, drinks and P2000 in the top.

When I expand I will probably go for a Tamrac Expedition 5 as well - would stil want to keep the Trekker

I'll second that, I have the Trekker 2. It carries my 300D with kit lens fitted, a 50mm 1.8 and 100-300 USM. In the top compartment is some small internal pockets, ideal for CF cards, lens cleaners etc..
I can even fit in a small travel tripod (about 20CM folded length), spare room for a small waterproof jacket, bottle of juice and chocolate:)

I'll be getting a battery grip next week, i have no reason to think that wont be easily accomodated in the bag aswell.

I too have the orion trekker, great little sack and really comfortable to carry. The bottom compartment holds all of the kit listed in my signature plus cp filter/memory/cleaning kit etc. The upper section is, as the others have mentioned, large enough for some drinks/snacks and a lightweight jacket or sweatshirt.

I use a Mountainsmith Alpinglo. It is a smaller, very comfortable back pack to carry. I put a 70-200 F4L in one of the back pockets, and sling a tripod under the bottom in the tripod carrier (DUH  ) It will only fit a small lense in the camera compartment, so the tele has to be removed when the camera gets put in the bag. I don't know how long your lens is when drawn back but it might fit (mine stays the same length all the time) Plenty of other room for a light jacket some snacks and other poriferal shizz.

It was $50.00 at www.campmor.com last month.
