1) Which camera is better the Digital rebel or the Powershot Pro1 ??

and

2) what is the most recent version of PS out now? CS2? and is it worth upgrading from photoshop 7

1) The Rebel is a better camera, but it takes a lot more practice, work, effort, and post processing to get good images out of it. If you don't want to have to bother, get the Pro1.
2) CS2 is a big upgrade for people who shoot RAW. For others, not so much.

Both of your questions are too general without more info about where you are now & where you intend to go.
I like the 300D. It works for what I do.
I do most of my "PS editing" now with RawShooter & only use PS7 for the things that only it can do. I've taught CS & don't miss the new features.

Which is a "better" vehicle - a Porsche or a dump truck?

Sure, you'd rather have the Porsche (wouldn't we all?), but what if you had to haul a couple tons of rocks - which would be "better" then? You can't say one camera is better than another unless you know specifically what you will be using it for.
