Well, seeing how popular the Motocross thread is always on the top of the page here, I thought I'd try out an asphalt version and see how it goes.

Soooo please do share your favorite shot from yesteryear to the present day and feel free to update your favs as the season goes on.
All I ask is if it's possible to include exif data either in the photo or type it in.

I'll start things off with one of my current favs that I hope to improve on this season.

Ahhh thanks for reviving the thread guys, it was a slow start but hoping to see it stay up on the first as the season progresses.

Some awesome shots above, especially enjoying some taken from the other side of the pond!

PS- I noticed some were from the '08 IndyGP, man, that was one WET w/e but didn't let that stop me from grabbing a few frames from all my GP heroes!

Almost. A bit close for comfort at times, but so far so good. Hedges aren't much of a substitute for gravel traps and tyrewalls at 150mph. :grin:

Tested my new bought (used) Sigma 1,4 extender the other day. Bought because I feel that 70-200/2:8 (Sigma) is not enough at the racetrack.
Cant really make up my mind if I'm satiesfied or not. Maybe they loose some sharpness when downsized. Croped a bit as well.

I've a sigma 1.4x as well. Have used it with 70-200 and 120-300 Sigmas but I feel its soft too. I started to use it with my Canon 300 and it works perfectly.

Almost. A bit close for comfort at times, but so far so good. Hedges aren't much of a substitute for gravel traps and tyrewalls at 150mph. :grin:

No doubt, but those shots are worth it! :)

I just got a 2x Sigma tele for my Sigma 70-200.
I found that a bit of unsharp mask and contrast boost in PS helps.

Too much sun more like. Severe back lighting issues. Had to overexpose by 3 or 4 stops to try and get some brightness into the subjects, but lost the sky and the road in the process.
Lovely shot of Ryan. Makes the diff when the sun is shining with you. :lol:

wow great set of photos Fortis, do you know why DiSalvo is riding a 675? i thought he started the season out on an 848.. i dont follow too close from NZ but im sure my observation is right.

Yes he did. My guess is they are switching to Triumph for next year. His teammate who races in supersport raced a triumph all year.

Great shot Stu man, the flash doesn't distract them? Just have to say, although I am not a rider and dont go to races, I've been to 2 track days so am becoming interested in motorcycle photography and I find myself going back again and again to that shot you took head on with the heat haze rising and the riders knee on the ground. I think it's one of the most thrilling and amazing shots I've ever seen.

NAA, I was pretty far away from the track and standing off to the side. I wouldn't use a flash if I was closer or directly in the rider's line of sight.
