As the title says went to the zoo in Colorado Springs today. First shots with my new Sigma 135-400, and also first time using a monopod with a big lens. I like the lens, but my skill with a monopod is seriously in need of help. Comments appreciated, thanks............Joe

not bad at all but then we are newbies with a digital camera to take a look at our zoo efforts and see what you think. I really like the elephant one he looks so old.

I love the elephant ... what a wise old face! And the last giraffe made me giggle. Great capture!

Nice crisp pics. I haven't been to the Zoo there in the Springs, but my wife and daughter have.
Are you in the Springs? I'm trying to relocate there to be closer to family, it's a very nice town.

Ilike them all, love the elephant, i always remember going to that zoo, feeding the giraffes which i had never done before- I guess where I come from in NY they don't want us messing with the animals-

Thanks everyone.
Zach no I live north of Denver a little, in Thornton. Only about an hour and 15 min away though.
cjsa, yeah feeding the giraffes is still the big thing, the kids love it, the zoo has almost 2 dozen giraffes, really the centerpiece of the place.

Good shots, Joe. All are sharp and well-exposed, and I love the composition of the elephant and last giraffe.

Thanks Kenny, have you been down there recently? Its quite the Zoo, although it is a lot of walking up and down hills and such. But it sits above the Broadmoor Hotel and some of the views are spectacular....................Joe

Actually, I'm ashamed to say, I've not been there in my thirty years in denver :( One or more of my kids did a sleep out in the zoo night when they were younger. I'll have to check it out. Hey here's something you should check out in the Colo Spgs area:

His original sculputures (he's passed on) are in the yard of his home, and they are amazing! I've only been there once a few years back, but I've got to get down there and find it again and take some pictures.

Great elephant shot. It's been 20 years since I have been there, but the two things I remember are hills and giraffes.

Love the last giraffe shot..."whatchoo doing down there??"
And of course, the elephant one is a great shot; it really imparts the age and size of the elephant well.
Best-
Noni
