I just bought a Pro 1 and when I first opened and turned it on it was in full auto and it was set to single on the menu for AF. In this setting when I would do a 1/2 click the lens would zoom in and out by it self and focus in on what I was pointing at. I switched to contineous and when I would move the camera around the room the lens would zoom in and out by it self trying to focus on something. I switched it to manuel focus in auto and that worked properly as well allowing me to move the barrel ring to zoom in on things. When I swithed back or tried to switch back to full auto the zoom ring now no longer zooms in out on its own but requires me to manually do it. My question for you that have a pro 1 please put your camera in full auto and set to contineous and move camera around does your lens zoom in and out by it self ??? Mine is not now. I am new to this camera stuff and have been to three camera shops and nobody seem to know what I am talking about and since this is a new camera I want to make sure that something is not defective....The camera shop I ordered from is back east and I have been unable to get a hold of someone there that can help me....
Your help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks for your response. I looked at the manuel but it does not answer my question. Does your camera in full auto mode zoom in and out on its own without your assistance??

Hello gbpro1
Unless there is some malfunction in your camera, I do not understand your explanation either.
Before going any further, let me describe the normal lens operation:
· The Pro1 lens has 2 motorized operations.
· The zoom in or out operation is accomplished by manually turning the zoom ring clockwise or counterclockwise. You can hear a motor running and see the lens barrel moving in and out.
· The focus operation (autofocus in AUTO mode) is accomplished by half-pressing the shutter button. You can hear briefly a motor running but you can NOT see an external movement in the lens.
Now check again your lens’ behavior. If the barrel lens moves when you half press the shutter button, there may be a malfunction.
If the lens does things as described above, it will be a normal operation.
Sometimes, after half pressing the shutter button the autofocus may do a very subtle, almost imperceptible adjustment.
Hope this will be of some help.

So your camera does not zoom in and out automatically with out you physically turning the barrel of the lens in full auto....
I am sorry if I am not explaining this properly I am new to all of this camera stuff... And the only reason I asked this is because the first time I turned the camera on when first taking it out the box new it was in full auto and when I would do a 1/2 click the lens would zoom in and out automatically without my assistance and only after switching to MF in Auto and then switching back to Full Auto without MF then it did not zoom in and out by itself.... I know this sounds confussing and I am sorry for that I just want to make sure there is not something wrong with the camera....I wish I could find a camera shop locally that had one so I could see if it does what I mine was doing..... Again sorry for the frustration and confussion but I appreciated the help....Thanks again

It seems as if something weird happened the first time you turned the camera on.
With the main dial in AUTO, the lens barrel NEVER moves in and out by itself.
I recommend you to Reset the Settings to Default
Follow the steps detailed in pg. 52 of the ENGLISH Camera User Guide.

hey gbpro1 I have just checked my camera and in continuous AF mode it does autofocus without half depressing the shutter button but if the zoom barrell does move in or out, it must be only micrscopic, just enough for it to focus on whatever it picks up in the lens at the time. I do know what you are saying i hope this helps but like rpolitsr said u might want to try resetting to default.
