My nephew took a break from skateboarding, his favorite activity, to do something a little less frenetic. A piece of chicken on fishing line did the trick for this catch-and-release afternoon. Bogue Sound is along the Intracoastal Waterway in Pine Knoll Shores, North Carolina.

Oh yeah, crabs weren't the only thing we caught.

Nice crab! I like the B&W but I love the colours. I wonder how it would look B&W but with the crab in colour? Do you mind me editing your pic Esquire?

Nitsch - I don't mind you editing it at all. My photoshops skills are pretty shabby, so I just shoot and post. I'd be interested to see what that would look like. Thanks, Esq.

OK, how about something like this? Not sure if it really works any better than the full colour one but it was fun to try.

Aside from the selective colour, I adjusted the levels, boosted the saturation of the crab and applied a touch of unsharp mask then added a border.

Nitsch - Very nice work. I like what you did with the photo. The colors are more intense and the crab really stands out. Thanks. Makes me want to improve my post process skills. Thanks again, Esq.

Nice crab, but the best shot in the bunch is your nephew. Looks like Opie come to life!

Definately like the colorized version best, it really makes the crab stand out.
That is a great shot of your nephew, maybe boost the contrast a bit. Try adjusting the levels in PS. See if you can straighten it bit, but no biggie. Looks like fun!
