Well, learning to drive the new L with my son on a pleasant Sunday afternoon:

10D + loungeroom tripod + white card reflector.
Tv 1/25th Av f5.6 200ISO raw

here is the "large" 600kb web version of this pic (http://i.pbase.com/v3/58/572458/1/46292848.sc_135mm_f5.6_200iso_05.jpg)

I am really liking this lens!

I put 5 shots in a gallery (http://www.pbase.com/pixelparker/steven05)

I thought it went well. He was eager and put on one of my summer shirts and sunnies. Natural model maybe in the future. Do modeling kids get good money or is it a waste of time sending pix to an agency?

Anyone had experience in Child model agency. All I've ever heard is about the scams.

Very nice exposures. Nicely illuminated. I like the background too.

One of my students has done modeling in the Midwest. She recommended that one locate a reputable booking agent. And don't pay anyone for the "privilege" of modeling. When you model they pay you.

Your son will never forgive you for making him wear that shirt... (what?? he volunteered??? hehe)

OK, the pictures are great :D Spring time in the Hunter (it's never really winter there), great time for getting out the camera, take some more :)

Hey, thats my sentimental collector's piece Indonesian made Darwin Casino shirt.

I have been to the famous "Colorbond Casino". [ Olive colorbond steel sheeting, bolted. Cyclone-proof. ]

How much do kid models get for a shoot? $200? $400?

Gonna do more of these on the weekend coming up I think. This pic is on my desktop and its really growing on me. Maybe I should bump up the contrast...?

Hello,

Make sure the agency is SAG (http://www.sag.org/sagWebApp/index.jsp) affilited and then go from there. Also visit the Child Modeling/Acting forum (http://messageboards.ivillage.com/iv-ppchildmodel) for some information and feedback on agencies.

Great picture btw! He certainly has a nice look for the camera.

edited to say: I just realized you are in Australia....so I dont know if SAG would be helpful for you. But maybe they will have information that is helpful to pick out scams. One thing to look out for, reputable companies do not ask for money up front. Your expenses are the photo's. And sinse you are a photographer... that cuts alot of it out. The agency gets a percentage of the jobs. That's where their money should come from...not from classes, or fees to join them.

Hope that helps,
Pamela

You're welcome.... let me know how things turn out. I was going to get my daughter into modeling but then she ended up hating photographers! At least the one we used. I havent been able to get her portrait done since she was 9 months old and she's now 20 months!

Good luck!
Pamela
