Am headed for my home round of the WRC in a couple of weeks and it's the first time to photograph rallying with a SLR. Will be taking my 50D + 70-200 f2.8 with me as well as a 17-85 f5.6 lens.
I have experience with drifting although the difference is the track is smooth so panning is nice and easy. Rallying has undulating road surfaces so wondering whether 1/125 and up is the ideal shutter speed to run, 1/60 is fine as long as the road is smooth although cutting and bumps mean the keeper rate would go way down I am expecting.
I know there are a few experts on the forum from the many fantastic shots I have seen so any little hints and tips would be awesome. In regards to safety advise I am fine, spectated for 16 years at the event, really just wanting to hit the ground running to try and minimise setting problems by having a bit of a head start for setting up the camera.
Any advise is much appreciated.
Kind regards
Aaron
