I went to the park yesterday and thought I would try my hand at capturing some of the many butterflies I saw in their prairie restoration area. This was probably the best of the lot. I learned that butterflies are very difficult to photograph. They're like my little boy in that they don't stay still for long!

Taken with a Canon 20D and Tamron 28-75 XR Di

Beautiful! You'd get a better response in the Macro section.

Thanks! I didn't think it qualified as a "true" macro since I don't own one of those wonderful lenses... yet. :)

My hat is off to you, Liza, they are really hard to get a good shot and you got a great one.

That is one fantastic Butterfly, I have taken many of this particular kind, fast moving and shy. Yours is an excellent capture.

Thanks so much for your comments! I bet it was funny watching me trying to catch this guy. I think I did everything but stand on my head to capture him.

Trust me, i know about all the funny looks. I once spent an hour going around one bush as the Butterfly led me on a merry chase. I think I was entertaining the people around me.

Great shot, Liza. Yes, it is tough to get good butterfly shots, but you did well.
