Hi all,

Just curious, is it just me or are there anyone else that give a name to his/her Gear :)

Mine :

Canon Eos 450D : Sophie
Canon EF 70-200 f/4 L USM : Gwenth
Canon EF 17-40 f/4 L USM : Vanya
Canon EF 100 L Macro IS : Varina

Do you have a name for your gear too ? :)

Every camera I have ever had has been "the box". wheres the box? you got the box? no, the other box. The box we took to your moms house. I thought the box was charged up and ready, now I gotta go back and get batteries for the box. Hold this box while I look for the lens I want. Etc. Etc.

Haha.. so it's just me :D

I give my gear name, because I love her :p

Yes, it's you. HOWEVER... You can name your gear anything you want. It's all about having fun, and it's your gear. :D

For instance, my XSi is a silver one. Based on a couple photography websites' comments, I apparently chose The Ugly One. Regardless, I like how it looks, and I don't care the least what others might think.

@NinetyEight:
Hahaha... Its just because i love them. I buy them with very hard work, so its just "my precious" (from the Lord of the Rings)

@FlyingPhotog:
:)

@number six & Birdfromboat:
I don't think the way you call it (the flash, the box, the 30D) as a name :)

@Mathogre :
Yes, its all about having fun. Even I make some polls on my Facebook to chose the "right" name for my lenses, and my friend give the poll and have fun too :)
btw, silver version of XSi ? I think it's cool to have rare (unique) item :)

Like I said in my earlier post, I don't give my camera a name, but I do refer to my camera as "her". Just like when I work on a car or plane they are all refered as a female.

To all the ladies on the board, I don't mean to offend you if your are offended. =\

Naming your gear is just the same as naming your vehicle. My friends have all named their cars. My truck is 'My Truck.' The only thing that I have with a name is Nifty.
Of course, if I could ever get my hands on that one, my car would be named Eleanor.

:) Happy...

so it's not just me :)

Viva-photography:
Sandra ? Nice name :)

Jill-of-all-Trades:
Yes... it's like naming your car or motorcycle. I give them name to... it's Minerva :)
Eleanor is a "sacred" name, I will name my car "eleanor" if it is a mustang :p

My camera's name is "Hope."

You know...hope the pictures come out alright, hope it doesn't break down in the middle of shooting, hope I don't screw up something, hope something doesn't go terribly wrong.

You know, hope.

Also, there was a girl ;):oops:;).

I DO IT TOO!!!!!!

in fact, I name a lot of my inanimate objects. lol
my 40D is Shirley. I haven't named my 5D yet. (I don't name the lenses, that would just be silly)

I must have a thing for S names.. meet Stella, Sally and Suzy

@TheBurningCrown:
:)

Hope is a good name :)

@StellaBean:
Wow... They are sweet :)

I name my lens because they are more expensive from it's body (I don't give a name for my 50 f/1.8 because it's bellow $100 :p ), and I don't name my flash because it would be silly

S name ? what about, Sonia, Sophie, Sherry :)
Just an advice from me :)

Yes, Eleanor is a sacred name. But only two Mustangs can be named so... and it goes by your preference of movies. Either a 1973 Ford Mustang Mach 1 or a 1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 ;)

@Jill-of-all-Trades:
Ouw, there are two ??

I think, eleanor is for the "1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500" :p

The original movie used the '73 Mach 1. The remake used the '67 Shelby. So depending on which movie you like better...

The 1Ds is the "full-frame", and the 40D is the "crop"; that is the extent of my gear naming. Never really named anything I've owned, but an old girlfriend of mine named the car I was driving at the time. It was a '72 Trans Am, and she called it "Jaws"...whatever...

@Jill-of-all-trades:
My Eleanor movie was only the remake version. So, the Shelby is my only Eleanor :D
I did search the picture of both, and I think the Shelby looks stronger and sexy :p

@Jason C:
Although I never seen Trans Am 72, from some picture i found, the trans Am looks like a strong car :)
Jaws is a proper name for Him (Because it is your girl friend who named your car, so your car must be male :p )

Jaws isn't bad for a T/A. At least it wasn't a Firechicken.

My camera has been nicknamed "James's purse" thanks to my friends. http://www.thalagyrt.com/files/arms.gif

Jaws isn't bad for a T/A. At least it wasn't a Firechicken.A motorcycle I had owned and loved, Honda Super Hawk, was branded by the sport rider's community the "Super Chicken..."

So, I've owned both a "Fire Chicken" AND a "Super Chicken"! Crap, what's left then...?

Well was the Fire Chicken powerful enough to be called a Screaming Chicken?
