Hi, I'm that close to getting a 20D but with the 8.3MP change in the 350D I'm wondering if any of you could tell me why I should spend twice the money getting the 20D... I would appreciate anyone who has both or at least an understanding of the differences to tell me what they are and if it's worth the price hike!

I got the 350D then upgraded to the 20D for the little extra stuff.

i have a eos 350 and i think the main diff for me would be the burst fps and the bit less noise in the sensor

for me, i still have not purchased either. a lot of thought has gone into and i figured that if i'm gonna go for this big purchase, then im going to do it right the first time. i decided on the Canon 20D and the 17-85 IS USM lens. my mom used to be a photographer and she is backing me up all the way on it (mentally and financially :))
i dont know where you stand, but i'd rather regret nothing and never look back.

Well this is my shoping list...
Canon EF Zoom Lens - 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 IS USMCanon EOS-20D plus Canon EF-S 17-85 f/4-5.6 IS USMCompactFlash Memory Card - 2GB (2 Gigabyte)Canon Compatible Digital Camera Battery - EOS REBEL / 300D 10D 20D D30 D60 - LCNV05S0Canon Flashgun - Speedlite 580EX with caseRemote Switch TC-80N3
Let me know what you think I should A) get rid of or B) get...
BTW will I get full coverage with those lenses or will I get a gap? (baring in mind the 1.6 ratio of lenses)

Given the trade-offs, I went for the 20D with the 17-85 lens. After reading many reviews and opinions and comparing specs, it was my opinion that the 20D was the better camera and better fit my needs, being a wanna-be-pro.

Just to set the record straight, the Rebel XT has 8mp. The 20D has 8.2mp.

I have the XT and while it is a great camera and I like it, it is just too small so I will be upgrading in the near future.

Solved the problem the shortest way, I've got them both. Not without a reason, of course. I wanted a second body (started with the XT) so I got the 20D and moved the XT as second unit. Pretty happy with the choice. If I had to choose only one, I'll do what I did at first and got the XT, saving for glass, as a first move.

Hi Matt,
The 75-300 IS is not without its limitations. Firstly it isn't really that sharp when you look real close. Secondly the autofocus is slow. ( I have one, - I should know!) But the 300 zoom is very handy, and of great value if you really need the distance. I think in the long term the 70-200 F4 L would be a better choice if you are ultimately after sharper pics. But consider carefully what type of situations you will be using it for - it has no IS - so in dimmer light you'll need support, and good tripods and heads don't come cheaply either. If most of your shooting is in stronger light and you don't need 300mm, then I'd go the 70-200 F4 L if I had my time over. If money isn't an issue - go the 70-200 f2.8 IS......
I like the rest of the 'package' you're putting together. Good luck!

I bought the 350D to save money to buy lenses, because I know in the future I will go for the mark 1d2 :) if I can convince my wife.
