I'm sure most people have seen or heard of the large park in Colorado Springs. It is characterized by large sandstone formations, wildlife and numerous hiking/biking trails. Here are a couple shots taken there recently. In the second one, you can see rock climbers at work.

Man that red is hard on the eyes!! Is my monitor out of whack, or is it really that bright??

oh.. Cool Shots. #1 looks like a Dragons Back... with a little immagination... ;)

Thanks, guys. The colors are bright because they were getting some strong light from a setting sun. Each formation has a name, such as "Kissing Camels" and "Sleeping Giant". Haven't heard of Dragon's Back, but it fits as much as any.

Stan, keep 'em coming. Nice shots. It is amazing how red that rock looks in the setting (or rising) sun.

Great Shots Stam! I'd missed these til now...

I love this part of the front range. It is a "feature the runs all along the border between the mountains and the plains. It's the Garden of the Gods, Roxboro Park, Red Rocks Ampitheater (see the pic in my thread at: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=86219 ) and the Flatirons in Boulder.

Thanks for the additional comments.

RRock, Gunnison is a great base of operations to see Crested Butte, Lake City, Blue Mesa Reservoir, Alpine Tunnel and numerous passes. We were there the last week of June and the wildflowers were awesome.

Cool shots, Stan, I spent a few hours there last fall. I like the climber pic.

We arrived at Salida, CO around midday today. I have wireless internet where we are staying but will probably not after tomorrow, but if I do I'll try to post some if I can...

13 hours on the road overnight, man I am pooped!

Cool Shots Stan! I'll ad one to the pile that I took a couple of years ago with my Nikon Coolpix...verifying the color! I recommend Garden of the Gods as a great place to shoot.

Nice shot, Phil. You got a great background, which I was unable to do.

Glad you made it, Mike, now relax and enjoy.

Everyone else, thanks again.

Beautiful colours, Stan.
I agree with a previous comment and the climbers giving the rocks a sense of scale.

Would love to see some more. :)
