Been doing mostly local shooting and going to Canada for about a week.I would like to know whats the best storage device you know of using without a PC.Yes I could take along a few cards but a portable storage device seems the best way to go.
Could you name what you use and prices availability? I'm going in late August,so I have a little time anyway. I saw a thread that suggested the compactdrive, any devices similar to it that are as good?It seems like its a pretty good buy considering how much it stores. Thanks.

I'm seriously considering this one. 30 gig for a smidge over $200 isn't bad considering most 1 gig flash cards are about $100 each. I think it would be well worth it. Now I just need to save up for it and an extra battery for my Rebel XT and I'll be set for awhile. Happy hunting.

I have the Epson P-2000. It costs about $500 which is a little pricey for a 40GB device but you can view Canon Raw files on it and the pictures are really sharp on the display. You can watch movies on it too as well as using it as a simple portable hard drive. It is getting good reviews and I have not had a problem with it.

I also have a P2000. The ability to review shots with that clear a screen is worth the extra money to me. It takes about 5 minutes to empty out a 1GB card in it, and after that you can pass it along for people to browse at will.

There are a number of cheaper options to the Epson P2000, but they lack the image review option. I have just upgraded to an X'S Drive VP3320 from an older X'S Drive, some others worth checking out at are the new PD70X and the ImageTank. Watch out for download speeds though, only the newest ones are any good (5 minutes for a 1GB card vs in some cases over 30 mintues for old models).
www.mydigitaldiscount.com has a large selction to choose from including the P2000, and options to buy many without hardisks if you already have one you can use.
