Wondering what compact card everyone is using as far as brand and memory. This is for my new Rebel XT.

Currently Sandisk Ultra II 512 but will get 2 x 1GB Ultra IIs when I can afford!
General concensus is that there is no speed benefit to be gained from faster than this with the XT/20D.
I am sure someone with the link to hand wil post one to Rob Galbraith's website which compares card speeds for all the Canon DSLRs (and more).

I tried several different brands and found some cards to be incompatable with the 350D/XT. I use the Sandisk Ultra II 1gig cards and have had no problems with these.

I have a SanDisk Ultra II (512mb) on my Rebel XT.

Haha ... I'd love to add a new angle to this, but I also use 2x1 GB Sandisk Ultra II on my 20D.
Once I had to use my old 1 GB IBM Microdrive, as my other card was full, and it was S...l...o...w...w...w...!
Really incredible ... when I shot some shots, it really took half a minute for the card to write the images. With the UltraII, it's instantaneous.
Best regards,
Andy

I also use Sandisk Ultra CF cards but my 20D takes advantage of the fast speed. I know the 300D didn't take advantage of the fast CF card but do not know that much about the XT. I guess if the XT is faster than the 300D, go for the Ultra cards.... if not, go with regular Sandisk (or whatever brand) cards.

Hi Bob J,
Check out http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/multi_page.asp?cid=6007 for more information than you thought possible on CF cards and their use in specific cameras.
I find SanDisk Ultra II in 1 or 2 GB form to be the most cost effective for me.

I use only SanDisk Ultra II cards in 1 and 2GB size.
Love these cards and can be found on Ebay for alot cheaper than retail stores.
I have bought 1GB cards for less then $70.00 and 2GB cards for less then $130.00.
Do your homework if bidding on Ebay;make sure you also check out "Shipping Cost".
Some as cheap as $4.99 and some as HIGH as $16.00

Thanks EOSAddict.
I keep the link handy for just such threads. The topic seems to pop up quite frequently.

Ultra II 1gb. But looking into a cheaper card for times when writing speed isn't too much of an issue.

SanDisk Ultra II 1 & 2 GB. At current prices, there's no point in getting anything else to save $15 a gig. And I don't want to have to remember whether I've got the optimal card for the rate at which I'm shooting.
