A few pictures from the GT1 season opener at Yas Marina circuit. Taken on Race Day (twilight) using 350D with 100-400mm L.

I pointed at the braking zone, a few cars spew out flames while downshifting...the Lambos seems to be the ones with the most spectacular flame

User error or the flame fooled the AI Servo? User error....

Race was won by Romain Grosjean. The event itself was nice...I brought my 5yr old daughter along...she had fun with all the activities they got for kids.

Great set of shots. I hear the Yas Marina circuit is really quite something?

Glad to see that the Ford GT's and Murcielago's are spitting the flames again this year. I am off to see GT1 Championship next weekend at Silverstone so will hopefully capture some of the flaming action myself.

Thanks Kevin. Yas Marina is pretty but otherwise a boring track.
Remember to post some pictures from the Silverstone weekend!

More FIA GT1 images from the Yas Marina Circuit. I loved the circuit but it is hard work trying to get around such a vast place in such a short period of time during the races...

Enjoy...

Wow ... interesting shots. well done.
My favorite is the flaming one : the 37 (or 38) with a bbq at the back.
I didn't see the pink and yellow car (62) at Silverstone.

Hi Nik,

I had a great 3-days at Silverstone last weekend for the British round of the FIA GT1, GT3 & GT4 championships. Weather was a changeable, but mainly dull and windy (typical Silverstone really!). A bit cooler than it was at Yas Marina for you I suspect

I have now posted a selection of my shots taken at the event as promised. Here are the thread links if you're interested:

You'll have to let me know what you think of my shots. Same cars as you photographed, but in quite different conditions :D

All the best,

Thats the best I could do using a 4 yr old 350D with ISO1600 (lugging around a 5yr old daughter to boot...but we had fun) and shooting from the grandstand.
The Suzuki Swift is from a local (UAE) racing series...

All the best,
Great shots all around Kevin. You really worked all the angles, despite the fencing and everything. I wish I was still in the UK, you guys get a lot more racing than this part of the world. Keep up the good work mate!

Hairycrab,

Many thanks for your comments...For sure it is much easier track side and for sure, without the kids hanging onto your shirt tails...I have been there too lol They soon got tired of carrying all my equipment for me

I have loads more but it's which do you put up there...It's always the worst part...Choosing

I would have loved to be at Silverstone too but have to make do with the heat & humidity here in Dubai ;)

Some great images from there too...Love to see others work as it is always good to see how they see and read the circuit for the best angles - Always learning :-)
