My five year old boy...these shots are special to me because it was captured of him alone at play. Normally he is always cheesing it up but today I caught him at the right time I guess.

nice captures. He may have to give up tree climbing for modelling

Love the comments thanks... His mother is drop dead beautiful so this is where he gets it for sure..

He just got a haircut, before this it was pretty long. People would say what a beautiful girl he was!! haha... We finally cut it off a few weeks ago and he is so proud to look like a boy now.. Well, he still has some girl like features but we still love him... Here is another photo of him I took the other day testing out some new equipment... Keep in mind he is only five years old! He looks much older in these photos.

Very nice photos! He's a good looking kid. I like both the first and second ones. The first has a lot of personality. The second one is artistic. Both could easily be printed and framed.

What lens are you using? I can't see to get anything that sharp

What I'm about to say is pretty funny actually... You hear claims on this forum about having to have the 70-200 f4L if you want sharp photos but the shots of my son in a tree were all taken with a 70-200L at 2.8. (non is) Thats right non IS... Can you imagine me still using this lens for weddings in low light? Well, I do and get fantastic results... I might get an IS version down the line but I will keep this.

I can't stress to you guys enough that I have used this as my primary portrait lens for nearly 5 years and it never lets me down... I'm getting ready to purchase the 85 1.2L but only because I can afford to at this point and I like the idea of having to master the 1.2 range for my portraits. I can see this lens really selling more prints for me in the future I really can.

Oh, I used the 5dmk2.. I consider this the best portrait and wedding camera for the money hands down.

I love them. Were you just lucky to not have spots of light shining directly onto his face or do you just take care of it in PP?

Great shot love the second. How do you get the skin so smooth and featureless?

But you had to wedge him into a tree to do it :-)

The way he was positioned in the tree he didn't have any sunspots on his face I guess it's luck..

I didn't use anything on his skin at all.. The second one has only some some adjustments in Bridge. I just popped them a bit with contrast and color. You can do this with better lenses but you have to be careful or you will over saturate you image and lose detail it's a fine line.

LOL...:) ... Actually that was what made these photos so special he was playing in the tree before I came outside.. The shot where he was looking between the trees he had no clue I was taking his picture. I just prefocused and got lucky when he turned my way. I was on my doorstep about 15 yards away with my 70-200

Yep climbing a tree... Actually as I said before when he looked at me was right when I pushed the shutter button.

It's fun to take photos of a nice looking subject isnt it? It makes us look way better to be sure..:)

I love the feedback and all the comments. It's amazing that some of the best shots are the ones that happen by chance.

great shots. i would avoid the eye colour photoshopping. it makes the kid looks odder.
