When images are deleted from a CF card the spaces left are filled in by later shots, so that a sequence of images are spread around and out of order. My daughter has just returned from a holiday and had her photos transferred to CDs (she should have waited for me to do it for her!). I am post processing her images some of which are affected in this way and I am wondering if there is any easy way when copying her disks to putting the photos back in order??
Help will be appreciated.

Physically, this is somewhat correct, but logically, it does not make any difference. After deletions, the shot sequence numbering is ordered correctly.

Perhaps it depends on the camera model; my daughter's camera is an Olympus Stylus 300 Digital and where she has deleted shots the numbers aren't in use any more. I can't check my G6 as I don't have a CF card with intermitten deletions.
A slide show becomes a bit of a muddle when shots of a particular scene are 'all over the place'.

All the canon DSLRs can be set to continuous file numbering so that no file number is reused. The Olympus may have that option, your daughter might want to check her manual.
With Windows Explorer, in a folder of images, you can select view -> details, then sort by date/time. This will at least put them in chronological order, then you can rename the files accordingly. I'm guessing the Apple platform has a similar option.
