No cable at all! :D The PW transmitter sits in the 10D Hot Shoe.

Scott, I will be using a 550ex in the hotshoe, hence the reason for needed a sync cable for the PW.
BH listed it as coming with a PC cable, so I didn't order one. Hopefully it is the right one. I did order the paramount hotshoe so that I can remotely fire a 380ex however.
So as I see it I have: Camera>550ex >>PW attached to pc sync port
PW>hotshoe>380 ex

PW's are very expensive for firing an old 380EX. Unless you plan on using them for Studio lights, you would be better off buying another 550EX. The 380EX may not recycle on its own after each flash. If it behaves like a 550EX, you will have to physically turn it off and back on after each shot.

The problem is i need the range that the PWs offer, so I don't have a choice. Worst case I will pick up a simple vivitar flash to fire off the PW.
Why would the 380 not recycle btw? It seems to work fine now...I could always just run the 550 rmote and the 380 on the camera, as it has no problems at all.

The 550EX will not recycle either when used with an optical slave. There isn't enough voltage to recycle it. So basically you cannot use Canon speedlights as simple optical slaves unless you care to turn them off and on each time you take a picture. Interestingly, Nikon flashes work fine with optical slaves in Manual and AutoThyristor modes.

Interesting, I have a few friends whom I know for a fact are firing cannon EX flashes off PWs without a problem. Hopefully it will work when everything arrives friday. If not i will go pick up some cheapie vivitars to fire off of it.

PW's yes. Optical Slaves, No.

erm, well seeing as I will be using pocket wizards, then I see no problem?
Nowi just hpoe i ordered up the proper cables to use them with.
(I was planning all along to use them on the PWs..not sure where the confusion came from!)
