For those of you who shoot in a studio setup. What kind of lighting do you think is best? I've bought some paper backdrops in grey, black, and white, and I don't know if I want to buy a couple of monolights with umbrellas, or if I want to buy a speedlight and try to make that work. I guess the problem is I would like to have both, but I can't. Do you think I could get by, with just a speedlight? I would probably get the 430 EX. I've never used either type of lighting, so I really don't know what to start with. I just feel like the speedlight would be more versitile. I see shots where some of you bounce the flash off a wall, or ceiling, and they look really good. It really makes me want a speelight. For those of you who have a speedlight... How much do you use it, and how much has it changed your photography? I never use the built in flash, unless it is absolutely neccesary, because I don't like the way it makes the picture look. How much better is the speedlight? Any advice you have is much appreciated! Thanks for your help.

You may have more luck in the flash forum on POTN - but if you're just starting out, go with a small flash and go from there.

I started with a 580EXII before adding a couple of Genesis 200's with umbrella's - a small softbox.

If I'm shooting my kid, I still go with the 580 and bounce the light, or shoot through a small lumiquest softbox. The Genesis lights only come up for big shoots.
