3rd-party lens for A40

I recently purchased a Canon A40, my first digital camera, and I'm interested in purchasing a telephoto lens for it. I'm having problems finding reviews on some of the after-market lenses I've seen on eBay and I'm hoping that someone here can help. I figure that the Canon-made lenses would be the best, but I'm curious to know if there are any lower-cost equivalents out there. Has anyone here had any experience with "Digital Optics" lenses? I have seen a number of them on eBay for reasonable prices, but I'd like to know if they're half the price of the Canon lenses for good reason.

If there are other companies out there with high-quality/low-cost lenses that are equivalent to what I would expect from Canon? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I was sadly duped into getting Digital Optics lenses on eBay. Im trying to send them back because of the poor image quality. They really are poor, dont waste your money. It also came with a Bower lens, didnt like that one either. Get either Tiffen or Kenko lenses. Those are actually real companies. My new Tiffen Megaplus lenses are great.
