A picture I did of Sgt Alfred Anderson, Black Watch (retired) on his 108th Birthday last year.
Alf was wounded at the Battle of Loos in 1915

He has just celebrated his 109th!

He looks about 40 years younger than his actual age! I would love to meet a First World War veteran.

he looks awsome.... 109... and still going. It will be sad when the last of these men pass. As to shot, it looks warm, inviting, full of life, exposure is spot on... you never fail to do your subject justice... wish I had a fraction of you eye for shots.

Great picture! I wonder, if asked in 1915, what he would have thought of his chances to live to 109. Loos was one of the early bloddy offensives that cost the English & French almost 250 thousand casulties for a two mile gain. The Brits used gas for the first time, but it blew back on them with horrible results. Congratulations to him for surviving---and for his long life.

I use a Stofen diffuser on a 550 EX angled up partially reflecting off a white ceiling (God bless White Ceilings!)

My condolences to his Family, Friends and old comrades, I saw it on the news last night, a good life and a fantastic ambassador for the last of the survivors of World War 1.

They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old

Here in France I think we have only five or six surviving veterans of WW1.

A lovely shot! It's always a treat to see a portrait that reveals the character of the subject. Here, I can't help but believe that Mr. Anderson was a fine gentleman, someone I wish I had known personally. Good job!
