Should I buy several L-series Lenses now - on credit?

If the dollar is devalued because of huge deficits, high oil costs, and difficult & costly wars could the price go up 25 to 50 % or more?

Please advise.

That's probably a good idea. Pressure on the Dollar from the Euro and from a huge drain on the US economy from war costs- plus lack of confidence in the US stock market and concerns over corporate mis-management may push the costs of foreign hi-tech equipment higher domestically.
The incredible low prices here in the US will eventually have to end- and this is just the impetus to make that happen. The sheer volume of equipment sold here has made it cheaper to buy cameras here -than even down the block from Canon in Japan. Once US citizen's houshold budget is squeezed from fuel price hikes and the taxes required to fund the Iraq /Korea /Pakistan /Taiwan /Iran /France wars, disposable income will reduce- and kill that volume buying power.
Sure..Buy them up now!....and enjoy them forever (till mold grows in them!)

I think you are worried too much. If you need them now, buy them. This was the mantra before the Gulf War and it never happened. Just my opinion.

Dollar lost 2% to yen in last week!?

How much change in $ value to cause Canon to raise prices? I hope the jump is not like gasoline. In the 1970s, I remember big price jumps (50 - 100%) for European products. I.E. bicycle tires and components from Italy.

I guess I'll order lenses and etc. now, even if some are on credit.
