Greetings all-
Since I am switching to a 10D and was using Pekka's action -as well as Fred Miranda's actions, I am contemplating trying to use the color channel sensor noise measurements from the 10D to update those actions. From inspection, I am sure that the blur component steps reflect the profiles of the D60's sensor noise. Fred's ISOR should be quiet a bit simpler to update than Pekka's action.
Anybody have a handle on how the radius, amount and threshold relate to the channel noise?

Thanks!

Bob

PS: And GO Canon on shipping those puppies! Anybody know what Ritz's total list # is? (I mean how many people are on the list)

Ritz is $1499 USD as per the Site.

Update: I was easily able to "correct" the blur levels in the Fred Miranda ISOR noise reduction actions- so that they reflect the difference in color channel sensor noise levels between the D60 and 10D. They seem to work well on sample 10D images. If Pekka doesn't get a free 10D from Ginocette at Ritz, then we will have to look at modifying his D60 Linear shaprpen action. The trick is quantifying the difference in noise levels. My data is as follows:

Scale is 1-10 10 being highest noise

10D D60

100asa
R 1.0 1.0
G 1.5 1.0
B 1.5 3.0

200ASA
R 1.5 1.5
G 2.0 1.5
B 1.5 4.0

400ASA
R 2.0 4.5
G 2.5 2.0
B 2.0 5.0

800ASA
R 5.0 6.5
G 2.0 3.0
G 2.0 5.0

1600ASA
R 7.0
G 2.5
B 5.0

3200ASA
R 8.0
G 4.0
B 6.0

This is totally non-scientific, but probably accurate enough to use for changing the blur values in D60 actions.
