Hello All,

I just got back from an Arizona vacation. We visited the Grand Canyon, Sedona, and Phoenix.

I had a lot of luck taking pics at the Grand Canyon. It snowed about seven inches one night and the sky cleared the next day. The weather was perfect for photography.

The weather in Sedona was also great. The clouds cleared about three hours before sunset and I was able to get some nice shots. I have to thank my girlfriend for wading across oak creek twice and climbing Cathedral Rock with me.

We had more sun in Phoenix. We climbed Camelback Mountain and got a few shots of the city.

Check out my pics at

Thanks for any comments

Lovely shots. I had not seen this snow before. And the light and shadows are great . The panorama is amazing in the wat that it shows the strata in the rock faces.

But.. some of the backgrounds seemed a bit blurred. How come?

Thanks for the nice reply.

I am not sure why some of the backgrounds are blurred. Maybe there is something wrong with the auto focus feature of the S30. I have read complaints about it. For all my landscape photos, I use F 8.0 which is the lowest setting on my camera. I checked some of the focus distances and they were as low as 4.5 meters when the camera is focused on a cliff a half mile away. I've noticed a problem with blurry pics before so i always check the pic in the LCD after I take it to see if it is in focus. Sometimes, the LCD is nearly worthless when the sun is really bright.

This focus problem is kind of frustrating. My camera is capable of taking really sharp pics, but sometimes it fails. Maybe it is just me and my shakey hands. I am no expert. Do you have any suggestions?
