new site up

Hi all,
I am graduating college in a few weeks and for one of my classes we had to put together a website (http://www.lauralitterio.com), it is wordpress powered. Please give me some feedback, especially in regards to ease of use, content (about page), and images.

Is the purpose for this website to be more of a portfolio, or do you intend to use it to obtain more business? If the latter, I would suggest adding something about your rates.

I say that, then I click on your "events" page and am greeted by NOTHING. Add some kind of navigation to this page, even there's only one event for now.

I think there's too much space on top of your home page slideshow. I would also change the color of the hover links (a:hover). The green background and blue text is really hard to read.

BTW, My dad, two uncles and my brother all graduated from Penn State. :)

The opening page is nice and clean, and I agreee about the pleasant and soothig colors of your logo. That being said I am greeted by a message that tells me I must have Flash in order to view your site (this is on my iPad). On my home computer I am greeted by a big, grey box that takes the place of Flash (clicktoflash plugin).

I'm not going to launch into some disertation on how you shouldn't be using Flash, but I will say that if you are going to do so it makes sense to have an alternative version of your site which does not use that technology.

Yes, it uses simpleviewer to load and display the images. I want to use lightbox or something but still havent figured out how to implement it in a wordpress setting.

Yes, it is a personal portfolio for now. I'm not looking to freelance right out of college. If someone sees my work and wants to hire me I am open to that.

Overall impression is positive... I really like the opening picture of the football game and the powerlifting one. However, the second picture (the nice trees w/ the person walking) looks a little out of focus, and the last one (throwing football) looks a bit like a snapshot.

When putting your images out front, make sure they're your most powerful ones.

But overall, nice job.

LOL yea I get that a lot. Many of the lightweight girls, and girls who do this sport in general, don't look like powerlifters.

It's a plugin/program called simpleviewer. It creates the xml file and thumbs on its own. It can be downloaded for Adobe CS or as a wordpress plugin
