Just curious what people (clients & other photographers) thought of it. :)

Looks pretty clean, iI'm just not a fan of the cliché aperture blades. The cheese touch is pretty neat though

I'm usually not a fan of using aperture blades as a logo, but the more I look at this, the more I like it....only because of your name. The B&W logo works well here. I might be tempted to add some color, maybe orange-ish to the cheese graphic and maybe your name.

look nice, but it's not different. I know like 5 websites that use pretty much exactly the same logo without those white dots.

If I had a name that was a word for somethig else, I would be all over it. But I am totally corny like that. I would completely play off the "Chedder". Done right, I dont think you could pay for better branding!!!!

hahha, love the comments guys. I appreciate it. keep em comming. side note, some customers find it hilarious how well the phrase "say cheese" plays into that.

I challenge you to come up with something better. without reason for your input, I'm forced to take your comment as nothing more than rubbish.

I would normally agree with you, blades are sooooo over-done, but in this case it works. At first I was thinking, "What the heck is with the holes", until I read his name. It fits!

I think it looks ok but, as has been said, the blades are used by so many people.
To be perfectly honest, it took me quite a while to see what the significance of the dots was too.. even after seeing your name and reading the comments. One of those images that can take a while to see and then you can't miss it.
If it was me, I'd be tempted to take the cheese thing even further, possibly at the expense of the blades somehow. With such a gift of a name for photography I don't think you need follow everyone else into the aperture blades thing. I'm not exactly sure how, but I'd definitely get 'Say cheese' into there somewhere :)

It's done well...but if you want your logo to look like 90% of other photographers, use the aperture blades.
Most clients probably wouldn't even notice but I personally wouldn't want my name associated with cheese, because I automatically think of the phrase 'cheesy', an we all know what that constitutes in the photography industry.

I missed the whole cheese thing on the first glance. I eventually got it, but you are usually not lucky enough to get a second look.
Maybe if you made the word Cheddar and the one blade some kind of orange, the connection would come much faster.
And yes nickelmedia... that is Swiss, not cheddar...

of course it's purposely swiss (seeing as cheese in itself is more associated/identified by the "holed cheese"). I believe maybe making the "cheddar" and the "cheese wheel's" blade- no pun intended- orange/yellow could work.

I'm not a graphic designer, I just know what doesn't work for a photographer's business card/logo. Having any part of a camera or lens included is just a weak design, a cop out that you couldn't come up with anything creative and resorted to parts of your equipment.
You want them to be aware of you, not your equipment, right? Plus with the popularity of tiny P&S cameras, much of the public these days do not know what aperture blades of a lens are - so you're graphic may not be understood at all. If you want something "catchier", use cheese as your logo in some manner.
